Finntroll is a people metal band from Finland that combines extreme metal with Finnish polka, known as humppa, and sometimes yoik. Although there is a Finnish group is Finntroll lyrics in Swedish, as vocalist Katla first language is Swedish (Swedish is one of the two languages in Finland). Finntroll means "Troll from Finland".

Finntroll was founded in 1997 (15 years ago) by guitarist Teemu "Somnium" Raimoranta and singer Jan "Katla" jams. Their first demo, Rivfader, was recorded the following year, and then also the other members of Finntroll with: Samu Ruotsalainen, Samuli Ponsimaa, Henri Sorvali and Sami Uusitalo. Thereafter the record label Spinefarm interested and gave them a contract, which resulted in disc Midnattens Widunder (1999, 13 years ago).
