Tasiilaq, also known as Ammassalik, is the most populous community in eastern Greenland. It is located in the Sermersooq municipality on the Ammassalik island at approximately 65°36′44″N 37°37′06″W / 65.61222°N 37.61833°W / 65.61222; -37.61833. It was founded in 1894 (118 years ago). The population is 1848 (164 years ago) (as of 2005 (7 years ago)). Air Greenland operates helicopter services from Tasiilaq Heliport to neighboring Kulusuk, which provides air link to Nuuk as well as Iceland.
