Kaiwo Maru II (海王丸, Kaiō-Maru) is a Japanese training tall ship. She was built in 1989 (23 years ago) to replace a 1930 (82 years ago) ship of the same name.
Her keel was laid by Sumitomo Heavy Industries on Jul. 8th, 1988 (24 years ago) and she was launched on Mar. 7th 1989 (23 years ago). It was fully completed on sep. 12, 1989 (23 years ago). She is a four masted barque with the length of over 110 meters and a complement of 199 persons.
She is a sister ship of Nippon Maru II.
The Kaiwo Maru II is a regular participant in international tall ship gatherings such as Operation Sail and is a multiple winner of the Boston Teapot Trophy.
