Alyson Lee Hannigan-Denisof (born Mar. 24, 1974 (36 years ago)) is an American actress. She is best known for her roles as Lily Aldrin on the CBS sitcom How I met your mother (5 walls), Willow Rosenberg on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Michelle Flaherty-Levenstein in three American Pie films.

Early years

Hannigan was born in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Emilie Posner, a real estate agent, and Al Hannigan, a truck driver. Hannigan is Jewish on her mother's side, and also has Irish ancestry. Her parents divorced a year after her birth and she was raised mostly by her mother in Atlanta.

Although Hannigan had appeared in an industrial movie for "Active Parenting" as a baby, as well as starred in a commercial for the Duncan Hines cookie mix in 1978 (32 years ago), it was not until she moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1985 (25 years ago) that she formally began her acting career. Living with her mother and attending North Hollywood High School, she successfully auditioned for agents while visiting her father in Santa Barbara. After attending North Hollywood High School she attended California State University, Northridge.

Career

Hannigan's first major movie role was in My Stepmother Is an Alien, a science fiction comedy released in 1988; one of her co-stars in the movie was actor Seth Green, who would later join her in the regular cast of Buffy as her on-screen boyfriend. Then in 1989 (21 years ago), her first regular role on a TV series came when she was cast in the short-lived ABC sitcom Free Spirit. Throughout most of the early-1990s, she appeared in commercials. In 1997 (13 years ago), Hannigan was cast to play Willow Rosenberg, Buffy's best friend, on the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (replacing Riff Regan, who played Willow in the unaired 25-minute pilot). The show became a success, and Hannigan gained recognition, subsequently appearing in several notable movies aimed at teenage audiences, including American Pie, American Pie 2, Boys and Girls, and American Wedding. By the time Buffy had ended in 2003 (7 years ago), Hannigan was earning a $250,000 salary for each episode. She also had a guest spot on the Buffy spin-off, Angel, reprising her role of Willow in a few episodes (including most notably "Orpheus," during the fourth season of Angel and the seventh season of Buffy), but none after Buffy finished production.

In 2005 (5 years ago), Hannigan returned to starring in a regular TV series, appearing in the hit comedy, How I met your mother (5 walls), as Lily, and also playing a recurring guest role on Veronica Mars as Trina Echolls.

In Feb. 2006 (4 years ago), Hannigan starred as Julia Jones in Date Movie, a parody on romantic comedies.

Personal life

Hannigan previously dated Ginger Fish of Marilyn Manson. She later married actor Alexis Denisof (who played Wesley Wyndam-Pryce in the Buffy/Angel franchise) at Two Bunch Palms Resort in Desert Hot Springs, California on Oct. 11, 2003 (7 years ago). They bought a house together in Santa Monica, California. Their daughter, Satyana Denisof, was born on Hannigan's 35th birthday, Mar. 24, 2009 (last year).

'Growing Pains' Actor Andrew Koenig Found Dead

An unnamed source, who reportedly spoke to Koenig's father, told CNN that the body found in Vancouver's Stanley Park on Thursday (February 25) at around noon is the 41-year-old. A news conference is expected for later Thursday, and various reports are saying that his parents — including "Star Trek" icon Walter Koenig — may attend. Fans, media and authorities alike had all come together over the last week in search of Koenig, who vanished on Valentine's Day and then missed a flight home to Los Angeles two days later. Reports later leaked that Vancouver police classified the actor as being "despondent" upon his disappearance, that he had suffered from depression, and had mailed a letter to his father before vanishing that gave the family cause for concern. As friends and family feared the worst, his Hollywood peers, including Alyssa Milano, Kevin Smith, Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Silverman, all used Twitter to voice concern and ask for help locating the actor. Joshua Andrew Koenig was born August 17, 1968, and worked as an actor, film director, editor and writer. He was best known for playing troublemaking teen Richard "Boner" Stabone on the ABC sitcom "Growing Pains," starring Kirk Cameron — who sent out his own desperate plea for Koenig's safe reappearance recently. In the years since the hit sitcom went off the air, Koenig had a small role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," voiced the Joker in a fan film called "Batman: Dead End" and wrote and directed the 2004 short film "Woman in a Green Dress." If the reports are true, Koenig's last professional work is believed to be alongside "Twilight" star Jackson Rathbone in the experimental indie film "DaZe: Vol. Too - NonSeNse."

"Andrew has recently been despondent, and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being," Vancouver police said in a statement released Sunday, CNN reports. "Andrew was suffering from depression at the time of his disappearance," the family said in a statement. Koenig, who played Richard "Boner" Stabone — star Kirk Cameron's best friend, on "Growing Pains" — was visiting friends in Vancouver and was expected to return home to Venice, California, on February 16. His father, Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the original "Star Trek" TV and film franchise, last spoke with his son on February 9. He received a note troubling note from Andrew, postmarked February 15. Andrew has not been seen since Valentine's Day. "He sounded despondent," Walter said of the note. "Nobody has seen this [note] but my wife and I." While Vancouver police conduct an investigation, Andrew Koenig's Hollywood peers have begun spreading the news of his disappearance via social-networking sites. Lance Miccio, a producer and director who worked numerous times with Koenig, told ABC News that Koenig recently turned down an opportunity to collaborate, saying he didn't want to work anymore. "He's been my editor on about 15 projects," Miccio said. "I told him, 'Look, I have a new gig, are you interested in working?' And he said, 'No, I'm not.'
