Pictures of Dead Or AliveInformation about Dead Or AliveDead or Alive (DEAD OR ALIVE:犯罪者, Deddo oa araibu: Hanzaisha), abbreviated as DOA (Dii ō ei), is a 1999 (11 years ago) Japanese yakuza action movie directed by Takashi Miike. It stars Riki Takeuchi, as the Chinese Triad boss and former yakuza Ryūichi, and Show Aikawa, as the Japanese cop Detective Jojima, and focuses on their meeting and conflict. It is the first in a three-part series, followed by Dead Or Alive 2: Birds in 2000 (10 years ago) and Dead or Alive: Final in 2002 (8 years ago).Dead or Alive seriesThe Dead Or Alive movies are not connected in any apparent way except by director Takashi Miike and stars Riki Takeuchi and Show Aikawa. In the first movie they play respectively yakuza and cop. Dead Or Alive is notable for Takashi Miike's characteristic scenes of ultra-violence and perversity, which come casually littered throughout. The movie opens with the two leads breaking the fourth wall, looking directly into the camera and counting "One, two, one two three four!" as if about to perform a rock song. This leads into an over the top, absurdly violent "Rock Video" style montage set to the film's theme song by Koji Endo, interweaving multiple scenes involving yakuza members assassinating other crime lords. The movie also features a deliberately absurd ending, beginning with the Riki Takeuchi character declaring "This is the final scene" and climaxing with one of the leads producing a bazooka from thin air and the other producing a ball of energy from his body. The energy blast causes a nuclear explosion - an image (wallpaper) that many have cited as a metaphor for the fact that the two have already destroyed one another's families and careers, or in essence, each other's worlds. The ending has also been described as the ultimate WTF. Dead Or Alive 2 (4 walls): Birds is a quieter affair with Riki Takeuchi and Show Aikawa as rival hitmen. This too has moments of completely wacky surrealism with the two randomly turning into birds and children, a woman hugging a giant phallic object, strange and bizarre characters, a necrophilic sex scene, intercut with a children's play written and performed by the protagonists. The second movie has even more surreal moments in the movie than Dead Or Alive. The two hitmen, Mizuki and Shuuichi, played by Aikawa and Takeuchi respectively, are childhood friends who unexpectedly meet again when called to do the same hit job. Both soon become hunted by gangsters, which inadvertently leads them both back to their childhood orphanage where they first met. After a temporary hiatus spent at their old home, they team up and hire themselves out to every hit job they can find but with a new focus: to give all their earnings to poor kids in Africa. Dead or Alive: Final is a Cyberpunk science fiction film. Riki Takeuchi and Show Aikawa play androids on either side of the law. This features a similar gonzo ending where the two characters fuse into a giant robot with a penis shaped head—a metaphor for how they have essentially been the same character all along, just embodied in different ways. Under the credits plays a completely non-sequitur shot of a man in a park strumming an acoustic guitar and singing. Another absurd moment in the trilogy is when, moments before the final showdown, the two leads flash back to scenes from the first two films, as if Final were a true sequel. PlotTakashi Miike takes a dime-a-dozen yakuza script and turns it inside out in this high-octane surrealist crime action thriller. The film's first ten minutes is a breathless montage depicting a naked woman clutching a bag of cocaine being thrown off a high-rise, a porcine Chinese gangster devouring bowl after bowl of noodles before getting whacked, a tinsel-wigged stripper in mid-grind, another Chinese gangster having sex with a guy in a pubic bathroom, clowns throwing knives, and the world's longest cocaine line. Welcome to planet Miike -- one that seems unnervingly like reality but just tweaked enough that the viewer believes almost anything can (and does) happen. What follows is a tale pitting narcotics cop Jojima (Sho Aikawa), who has an ailing daughter and a neglected wife, against Ryuichi (Riki Takeuchi), a Chinese-born gangster sporting a hairstyle that would make Wayne Newton jealous. As Ryuichi tries to muscle in on a big drug haul from Taiwan, those closest to him get killed -- particularly his whey-faced younger brother and girlfriend (the latter meets a particularly grizzly end at the hands of a sadistic scat-enthusiast yakuza). Likewise, Jojima, who is on Ryuichi's tail, looses his partner, his wife, and his daughter. Soon the two are on the road to a literally cataclysmic confrontation.Cast

Latest news about Dead Or AliveJustin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers To Present Grammys MTV News - 59 days agoKe$ha, Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel, LL Cool J also announced as presenters for January 31 show.By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber Photo: Michael Loccisano/ Getty Images The Grammy performance roster already boasts a galaxy of stars that includes Lady Gaga, Green Day, Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Taylor Swift and Maxwell. So, it just makes sense that the first round of presenters announced on Thursday (January 14) would match that star wattage. The Recording Academy unveiled the first group of presenters, which includes Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, the Jonas Brothers and LL Cool J. Also scheduled to present awards are actors Kristen Bell, Jeff Bridges and Josh Duhamel and musicians Norah Jones, Ricky Martin, Carlos Santana and ex-Beatle Ringo Starr. The 52nd annual Grammys will air live at 8 p.m. ET on January 31 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will also feature performances from Bon Jovi, the Dave Matthews Band, Lady Antebellum and the Zac Brown Band. More performers and presenters will be announced soon. The show will feature live sets from all five of the Album of the Year nominees — Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga, the Dave Matthews Band and Taylor Swift — as well as a special song from Bon Jovi as part of a contest called "You Pick It, They Play It!" The veteran New Jersey band will let fans decide which hit they will play on the show through a contest on CBS' Web site, where they can pick one of six songs, "Always," "Bed of Roses," "Have a Nice Day," "It's My Life," "Livin' on a Prayer" and "Wanted Dead or Alive." Fans are also still encouraged to upload a 20-second video of themselves singing along to a portion of the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" for a chance to have their video appear as part of the Peas' performance at the show. And even though he's watched it about six dozen times since, Saporta still doesn't believe that it's real. We're talking about an interview clip with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, posted on MTV.com last week, in which he says that, if he could tour with any band ever, he'd pick Cobra Starship. Seriously. "You might be thinking that's crazy, but I really dig [them]," Cuomo says in the video. "I dig their attitude. ... They've got a very 21st-century outlook. They don't take themselves too seriously. They're there to have a party, put on a good show. That, to me, is the kind of band you want to tour with." Obviously, Saporta was blown away by the comments. "Honestly, when I first saw it, I was looking at it on a small screen, and I honestly thought that someone made an app. Like, 'Get Rivers to say whatever you want!' or something," Saporta laughed. "I thought it was just a flash app or something. And then I realized it was real, and I was like, 'Holy sh--.' We're all huge Weezer fans. We can't believe it." Like most, Saporta fell in love with Weezer after buying their 1994 debut, The Blue Album, and the infatuation only grew from there. He's even a huge fan of their just-released Raditude, mostly because he thinks it shares the same kind of party-hard sentiments that his band expounds. "There's definitely a lot more electronic beats on the new Weezer record, and that's flattering, because he's saying 'I like how they mix up genres,' and I can tell by listening to the new record that he's thinking about that ... it's new and fresh," he said. "You can tell he gets how music is made these days, and he's trying his hand at it. And obviously, we like to party too, so there's that." But will Cobra Starship actually be able to tour with Weezer? Well, schedule-wise, it's looking good. And even if it wasn't, well, Saporta would make it work for Cuomo and company, no matter what. "Dude, I would love to make it happen. There are a bunch of holes [in our schedule]. We're trying to figure out what we're doing," he said. "We come back from Australia in March, and then we're going to see. ... We basically have the spring and summer to tour, so if Rivers wants to go out, we're there. No matter what it takes. I'll even do his laundry." But Flo Rida is just looking forward to being in the building September 13. The rapper was nominated for his clip "Right Round," alongside Jay's "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)", Roth's "I Love College," Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" and Eminem's "We Made You." "I look forward to going [to the VMAs] and just enjoying myself," Flo said of his nomination. "It means a lot to me. I can recall being in Las Vegas [where he once lived] and watching the music awards [in Miami] and seeing Jay-Z up for an award, and now here I am in the same category. I definitely look up to these guys. And even the newcomers you can learn from." The clip was directed by Malcolm Jones (Lil Mama, Ray J) and features Flo Rida being digitally imported to clubs across the world. The throwback track was inspired by a sample from Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)." Earlier this year, Flo told MTV News how his sisters listened to pop music from the 1980s and the Dead or Alive song caught his ear. When he went to work on his sophomore album, the song was at the forefront of the project's foundation. Now it's his second blockbuster digital download following the breakout hit "Low," featuring T-Pain. "I just wanted to show the growth, show people I'm very well in tune with the '80s music," he explained of the track and his album, R.O.O.T.S. "Growing up in my household with seven women, I'd hear all types of music." The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 13 at 9 p.m. ET. Nominees, celebrity presenters and additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.
