Julian Dana William McMahon (born 27 Jul. 1968 (44 years ago)) is an Australian actor and former fashion model, perhaps best known for his portrayal of Cole Turner in The WB hit series Charmed, womanizing plastic surgeon Christian Troy on the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning TV show Nip/Tuck, and Doctor Doom/Victor Von Doom in Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Early life

McMahon was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, the second of the three children of William McMahon (later Sir William), later Australian Prime Minister, and his wife Sonia McMahon, an occupational therapist and fashion icon. He has an older sister, Melinda, and a younger sister, Deborah. McMahon has Irish ancestry.

McMahon was educated at Sydney Grammar School, a private boys' school. He briefly studied Law at the University of Sydney and Economics at the University of Wollongong, but this bored him and he started a very successful modeling career. Because of this, he became known in the fashion capitals Milan, New York, Rome, and Paris.

Personal life

McMahon has been married and divorced twice, first briefly, to Australian singer and actress Dannii Minogue (55 walls) and subsequently to American actress Brooke Burns, with whom he had a daughter, Madison Elizabeth born 9 Jun. 2000 (12 years ago). He was also linked to Shannen Doherty, his co-star from Charmed.

When he made a guest appearance on The View in Oct. 2006 (6 years ago), he presented a rug for Rosie O'Donnell as a joke. The rug was used in a love scene between the two in the fourth season of Nip/Tuck.

Career

In addition to a career as a fashion model, including a jeans commercial for Levi Strauss, McMahon began an acting career on Australian soap Home and Away, playing the soldier Ben Lucini (1990–1991). McMahon was one of several Home and Away cast-members to star in a stage musical about the soap, which toured the UK in 1991 (21 years ago). Adam Willits, Sharyn Hodgson (who played his on-screen wife, Carly), Mouche Phillips and Justine Clarke also starred.

He then appeared in the movie Wet and Wild Summer! (a.k.a. Exchange Lifeguards) in 1992 (20 years ago), and following this he appeared in his then soon-to-be wife Dannii Minogue's music videos for her 1993 (19 years ago) hits "This Is It" and "This Is The Way". His first role on American TV was on the daytime soap opera Another World, playing Ian Rain from 1993 (19 years ago) to 1995 (17 years ago). He also went on to play Dr. Michael Walsh in the movie Magenta in 1996 (16 years ago), Sheriff Hayes in In Quiet Night (a.k.a. You Belong to Me Forever) in 1998 (14 years ago), George Simian in the psychological thriller Chasing Sleep in 2000 (12 years ago), and David Cameron in the made for TV movie Another Day in 2001 (11 years ago).

From 1996 (16 years ago) to 2000 (12 years ago), he starred in all four seasons of the NBC drama Profiler as Agent John Grant. Following this, McMahon joined the cast of the WB's supernatural hit show Charmed, playing the demonic Cole Turner from 2000 (12 years ago) to 2003 (9 years ago). The character was killed off in the 100th episode of the series, but returned for a one-off guest appearance in the 150th episode in 2005 (7 years ago).

Following Charmed, McMahon's next role was playboy plastic surgeon Christian Troy on the FX series Nip/Tuck. He was nominated for the Golden Globe award for "Best Actor in a TV Series - Drama" in 2005 (7 years ago) for his performance. Throughout this series, McMahon appeared nude in a large number of episodes.

During this time, McMahon also portrayed supervillain Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four, the 2005 (7 years ago) movie adaptation of the comic book series of the same name. The movie was a box office success, and McMahon reprised his role as Doom in the sequel in 2007 (5 years ago).

McMahon was also allegedly one of the names being considered for the role of James Bond in the movie Casino Royale (4 walls), though the part ultimately went to Daniel Craig.

He also appeared alongside Sandra Bullock (13 walls) in the 2007 (5 years ago) supernatural thriller Premonition.
