Kate Louise Lawler (born 7 May 1980 (32 years ago) in Beckenham, London) was the first female winner of Big Brother UK, winning the 2002 (10 years ago) third British season of Big Brother. Since leaving Big Brother, she has worked as a TV presenter and personality, a model and as a disc jockey.

Career

In sep. 2002 (10 years ago), Lawler became a DJ on Capital FM, a position she held until dec. 2003 (9 years ago). She co-presented the Channel 4 breakfast TV show RI:SE from Feb. 2003 (9 years ago) until it was axed in dec. of that year. In 2005 (7 years ago), she was one of the competitors in the ITV show Celebrity Wrestling, competing under the name The Brawler. She helped her team, the Warriors, win the team championship, but was eliminated in the semi-finals of the individual competition by fellow model Leilani Dowding.

Lawler has modelled clothing for Arsenal FC, of whom she is an avid supporter.

Lawler wrote a twice-weekly Big Brother 7 column for The Sun online for the duration of the series. Early in the series she spoke about her opinion and feelings towards BB7, branding the housemates "weird" and "fame-hungry".

Although she previously denied rumours that Lawler would participate, on 14 Aug. 2006 (6 years ago), Lawler entered Love Island 2 as a new arrival. Fellow contestant Sophie Anderton (4 walls) was not impressed as she had had it written into her contract for the show that Lawler, along with three other unnamed celebrities, would not also appear. Sophie had been rude to Kate at a party in London, to which Kate retaliated; this had caused Sophie's animosity towards Kate. However once on Love Island Sophie and Kate made up, and became friendly. Kate came third top female in the final of Love Island.

In 2006 (6 years ago), Lawler appeared on Brainiac: Science Abuse, receiving an electric shock in an electric chair. She was a presenter on Playdate, a late-night dating programme on ITV2.

Lawler currently works as a club disc jockey in Europe and Japan, and is monthly resident at Manchester club Sankeys, and an occasional columnist for the UK-based celebrity gossip magazines OK! and New.

Lawler has also appeared in various men's magazines, including Loaded, Front, Nuts and Zoo. On 24 Jul. 2006 (6 years ago) Ann Summers announced that Lawler would be the company's new model in its lingerie advertisements.

In 2007 (5 years ago) Lawler appeared on the BBC comedy Rob Brydon's Annually Retentive.

On 1 Oct. 2007 (5 years ago) Lawler joined Kerrang! Radio, co-presenting the breakfast show, The Morning After alongside Tim Shaw from 7:00-10:00 am. When Shaw was suspended from the station on 23 Apr. 2008 (4 years ago), Lawler temporarily helmed the breakfast show on her own until Shaw's dismissal was confirmed. At this point, on 12 May 2008 (4 years ago), she moved to Drive!, Kerrang's 4:00pm-7:00pm show, which she presented on her own until OJ Borg joined the show as her co-presenter on 27 Oct. 2008 (4 years ago).

On 26 Jan. 2008 (4 years ago) Lawler returned to Big Brother as a hijacker for a day in the new show Big Brother Celebrity Hijack. She ran the Flora London Marathon on 13 Apr. 2008 (4 years ago) wearing only Ann Summers lingerie, raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Personal life

Lawler dated footballer Jonathan Woodgate for 18 months until 2005 (7 years ago).

On 26 Jan. 2007 (5 years ago) Lawler was banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding at 92mph in a 60 zone in Ugley, Essex. She received a £1,100 fine and three points, pushing her over the 12-point limit resulting in the ban.

Lawler has revealed that for years she considered getting breast implants to boost her confidence and improve her modelling opportunities. She was featured on My Body Hell on Channel 5, which followed her decision-making process. She received advice from her sister and wore chicken fillets in her bra, but she decided against getting surgery.
