Alyssa Jayne Milano (born Dec. 19, 1972 (38 years ago)) is an American actress and former singer. Her acting career began after she appeared in the Broadway show Annie. She played regular roles on television as Samantha Micelli in the sitcom Who's the Boss? and as Phoebe Halliwell on the supernatural series Charmed. Milano, a movie music editor and a well-known boating enthusiast. She has a younger brother, Cory (born in 1982 (28 years ago)), who is also an actor, but has more recently started a band, called Chloroform Days, in which he is the lead singer. Milano was born in Brooklyn and grew up in Staten Island and was raised Roman Catholic. She began her career at the age of 8 when she won a part in an open audition for a national tour of Annie. She appeared in television commercials and off-Broadway productions. At the age of eleven, she earned her first major role in the TV show Who's the Boss?, alongside fellow Brooklyn native Tony Danza, Judith Light, Danny Pintauro, and Katherine Helmond. She starred as Samantha Micelli, the daughter of Danza's character, Tony Micelli. When Milano won the role, her family relocated from Staten Island to Hollywood.

She produced a teen workout video in 1988 (22 years ago) called Teen Steam. In 1985 (25 years ago), Milano was in the movie Commando as Jenny Matrix who was John Matrix (Arnold Schwarzenegger)'s daughter. A few years later this movie was shown in Japan prompting a producer to offer Alyssa a five album record deal.

She gained more mainstream success in TV as Jennifer Mancini on Melrose Place (1997-1998), Meg Winston in Spin City, and most notably as Phoebe Halliwell on the eight year run of the popular series Charmed (1998-2006). "I've stumbled over words while reading from teleprompters. Sir John Gielgud, whom I worked with on The Canterville Ghost years ago, gave me great advice. When I asked how he memorized his monologues, he said, 'I write them down.' I use that method to this day. It not only familiarizes me with the words, it makes them my own."

Corey Haim Remembered By Alyssa Milano, Ashton Kutcher, More MTV News - 8 days ago
'My thoughts go out to Corey's family and friends today,' Christina Applegate tweets.By Jocelyn Vena Corey Haim in 1986 Photo: Hulton Archive/ Getty Images After news spread that iconic '80s actor Corey Haim was found dead Wednesday (March 10), Haim's friends and colleagues took time to pay their final respects. While longtime pal Corey Feldman released a statement to MTV News, Alyssa Milano hit Twitter with her reaction. " Just woke up to the sad, sad news that Corey Haim passed away," tweeted Milano, who dated Haim when they were both teenagers. "RIP sweet boy." Comedian Michael Showalter kept his tweet simple, writing, "Damn. RIP Corey." Christina Applegate added: "My thoughts go out to Corey's family and friends today. So sad." Kevin Smith fondly remembered Haim for his classic films, tweeting, "Lost Boy goes home: Corey Haim, dead at 38. G'bye, LUCAS. You gave hope to the weird&unlikely." Ashton Kutcher tweeted, "Rip Corey Haim 'Childhood hero.' " Fellow '80s actor Ralph Macchio wrote, "Always so sad and disturbing when the addiction and demons prevail. RIP Corey Haim." Todd Bridges, who has also battled drug addiction after coming to fame as a child star in the '80s, released a lengthy statement about Haim's passing: "Corey Haim was a good friend of mine and he will be missed. Too many people are dying way too young and it's sad because of the loved ones who are left behind to understand what happened and to feel the loss. I hope he's in a better place. I will always love my Brother, and I will never judge him. I understand his pain, but I also know now there is a way out. I hope anyone who is dealing with the same stuff gets out before it's too late. Don't let the death of others fool you into thinking that it cannot happen to you. If you play with fire, you will get burned." Leif Garrett, who worked with Haim in "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star," also released a statement: "This just goes to show that whether it's street drugs or a prescription from the doctor, that all drugs are dangerous — as we saw with my friend, Heath, as well. No matter what form, it's not to be taken lightly. Some people are lucky enough to finish the race and others crash and burn. I do not wish this horrible disease of addiction on anybody. I send all my condolences and love to Corey's family. May he rest in peace." Related Videos Remembering Corey Haim Related Photos Corey Haim: A Life In Photos

The cast of Bobby and Peter Farrelly's 10th movie just keeps growing and growing. The latest actors to pick up a pass for the Farrelly Bros comedy are Christina Applegate, Alyssa Milano, and Vanessa Angel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The threesome join Amanda Bynes, Stephen Merchant, Jason Sudeikis, Jenna Fischer, Larry Campbell, J.B. Smoove, and Owen Wilson in the New Line production. Hall Pass, with an estimated budget of $40 million, began filming last week. Production is expected to wrap up in April. The romantic comedy written by the Farrellys has nothing to do with school and everything to do with extramarital affairs. In the film, two wives give their husbands 'hall passes' which allow the men freedom to have affairs. I'm guessing hilarity will then ensue as the men venture outside their marriages looking for sex. In other news, the Farrellys are still attached as producers, writers, and directors of a Three Stooges movie. That film is expected to begin shooting later this year with Benicio Del Toro playing Moe and Sean Penn (who left and rejoined the project) playing Larry. On Friday (February 26), the outpouring of support continued from Koenig's friends within the entertainment industry. I have such great memories of Andrew and our time together on 'Growing Pains.' Several comedians, including Sarah Silverman, also expressed their sadness over the news. "My heart is heavy for the Koenig family," she wrote on Twitter. "I'm really sad about Andrew Koenig," said comedian and former "Singled Out" host Chris Hardwick. "He was the sweetest, nicest guy. I feel kind of hollow on the inside at the moment." Other actors, like Danny Masterson, recalled their memories of Koenig. "Terrible about Andrew Koenig," he wrote. "Did a film [with] him in '95 called Family Values. He was a great dude. Very smart. Very cool. Very funny." Jimmy Pardo, the host of the popular comedy podcast Never Not Funny and brother-in-law to Koenig, issued the following statement on his Web site: "Andrew Koenig was our video producer, our cameraman and our editor. He was our collaborator on mic and off. He was also our brother and our friend. Just as he did with his work as an actor and an activist, he touched countless lives by gracing us with his presence on Never Not Funny, and now we all feel the weight of his absence. The Andrew we will remember and celebrate is the Andrew we saw every week at the studio: the kind and caring vegan, the videographic wizard, and most of all, the gifted performer with a passion for comedy who laughed at us and made us laugh. We will miss him always."

'Growing Pains' Actor Andrew Koenig Found Dead MTV News - 21 days ago
His body was found in a Vancouver park on Thursday afternoon, according to CNN.By Larry Carroll Andrew Koenig Photo: IMDB More than a week after "Growing Pains" actor Andrew Koenig went missing, his body has been found in Vancouver, CNN is reporting. An unnamed source, who reportedly spoke to Koenig's father, told CNN that the body found in Vancouver's Stanley Park on Thursday (February 25) at around noon is the 41-year-old. A news conference is expected for later Thursday, and various reports are saying that his parents — including "Star Trek" icon Walter Koenig — may attend. Fans, media and authorities alike had all come together over the last week in search of Koenig, who vanished on Valentine's Day and then missed a flight home to Los Angeles two days later. Reports later leaked that Vancouver police classified the actor as being "despondent" upon his disappearance, that he had suffered from depression, and had mailed a letter to his father before vanishing that gave the family cause for concern. As friends and family feared the worst, his Hollywood peers, including Alyssa Milano, Kevin Smith, Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Silverman, all used Twitter to voice concern and ask for help locating the actor. Joshua Andrew Koenig was born August 17, 1968, and worked as an actor, film director, editor and writer. He was best known for playing troublemaking teen Richard "Boner" Stabone on the ABC sitcom "Growing Pains," starring Kirk Cameron — who sent out his own desperate plea for Koenig's safe reappearance recently. In the years since the hit sitcom went off the air, Koenig had a small role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," voiced the Joker in a fan film called "Batman: Dead End" and wrote and directed the 2004 short film "Woman in a Green Dress." If the reports are true, Koenig's last professional work is believed to be alongside "Twilight" star Jackson Rathbone in the experimental indie film "DaZe: Vol. Too - NonSeNse."

Drew Barrymore Reunites With The Children Of The World For Charity Look To The Stars - 21 days ago
Written by Tim Saunders Twenty-five years ago, a group of children made history by getting together to record their own version of We Are The World. On Friday, the original kids — including Drew Barrymore, Fergie and Alyssa Milano — will reunite for a special DVD/Blu-Ray release of the Children Of The World Project. The original singers will come together at the Sheraton Delfina Hotel in Santa Monica for the taping to raise money once again for charity. Where the original proceeds went to Africa famine relief, the new recording will benefit kids in Haiti. Nominated for a Grammy Award in 1985, the Children Of The World Project was the brainchild of Sonny Melendrez, and caught the attention of Michael Jackson, who penned the original song with Lionel Richie. “After several weeks and with the help of countless volunteers, including my friend and entertainment professional, Roger Neal, we had auditioned over 1500 children in various locations throughout Southern California,” said Melendrez. "Every effort was made to make each child, ages 5 to 17, feel special about what and why they were auditioning. Everyone was presented a certificate and t-shirt commemorating their participation. “Every note was also filmed for a video of the song. I couldn’t stop thinking about the 1400+ kids who had not made the group and suggested that part of the video include them all. It was agreed we finished our filming at LA’s Griffith Park where every child in the world imaginable was represented by hundreds of young singers including those who where blind, deaf, or otherwise handicapped. We wanted to show that when it comes to giving, there are no barriers. Everyone can participate.” To find out more about the project, visit the official website or the official Facebook page. Missing 'Growing Pains' Actor Andrew Koenig Was Suffering From Depression MTV News - 24 days ago
Vancouver police say the 41-year-old 'has recently been despondent.'By MTV News Staff Andrew Koenig Photo: IMDB Andrew Koenig, the 41-year-old former "Growing Pains" actor who has been missing since February 14, has suffered from depression, according to statements from his family and law enforcement officials. "Andrew has recently been despondent, and his family and friends are concerned for his well-being," Vancouver police said in a statement released Sunday, CNN reports. "Andrew was suffering from depression at the time of his disappearance," the family said in a statement. Koenig, who played Richard "Boner" Stabone — star Kirk Cameron's best friend, on "Growing Pains" — was visiting friends in Vancouver and was expected to return home to Venice, California, on February 16. His father, Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the original "Star Trek" TV and film franchise, last spoke with his son on February 9. He received a note troubling note from Andrew, postmarked February 15. Andrew has not been seen since Valentine's Day. "He sounded despondent," Walter said of the note. "Nobody has seen this [note] but my wife and I." While Vancouver police conduct an investigation, Andrew Koenig's Hollywood peers have begun spreading the news of his disappearance via social-networking sites. Alyssa Milano, Kevin Smith, Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Silverman have all sent out updates from their Twitter accounts about the developing situation. Lance Miccio, a producer and director who worked numerous times with Koenig, told ABC News that Koenig recently turned down an opportunity to collaborate, saying he didn't want to work anymore. "He's been my editor on about 15 projects," Miccio said. "I told him, 'Look, I have a new gig, are you interested in working?' And he said, 'No, I'm not.' Then I invited him out for drinks to talk and see where his head was at, because I knew he wasn't feeling great, and he declined on that." "I think it's something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time," Walter told People of his son's disappearance, which he doesn't think had anything to do with drug use. "There's no single trauma. There's no episode."

Wyclef Jean Raises $1 Million In Aid For Haiti MTV News - 63 days ago
Yele Haiti has gotten more than 200,000 text donations since Tuesday's earthquake.By Gil Kaufman Wyclef Jean Photo: Jason Kempin/Getty Images So far, Wyclef Jean's nonprofit organization, Yele Haiti, has raised over $1 million for the victims of Tuesday's devastating earthquake from mobile donations alone. With a series of urgent tweets, an appearance on CNN and the help of his famous friends the singer has mobilized a massive effort on behalf of his homeland, imploring followers to text "Yele" to 501501 to donate $5 to the effort. According to Albe Angel, CEO of Miami-based Give on the Go, the mobile communications company working with Yele Haiti to coordinate donations, the organization has raised over $1 million for relief efforts since the earthquake. Yele's goal is to up that figure to $1 million a day as part of the SMS fundraising drive. "Since the disaster occurred around 5 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday and [by] midnight [Wednesday] we cleared $1 million," said Angel, whose company provides the technology that allows mobile users to make an automatic $5 donation. Give on the Go has announced that 100 percent of the donations raised will go directly to Yele Haiti. More than 200,000 people have donated to the cause, and Angel said he thinks it's possible that the $1 million per day goal could be reached, given the volume of donations that have been coming in. "These types of donations really were spawned by the [2004] tsunami relief effort, and the $1 million that Yele has raised already is a watershed event." Wyclef is not the only celebrity who has stepped up to aid the cause. The Jolie-Pitt Foundation, founded by Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt, has pledged $1 million to the emergency medical operations of Doctors Without Borders. "It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades," Jolie said in a statement on Wednesday. Relief efforts have spawned Facebook and Twitter users to take action, and a number of other celebrities have joined in the fight to send urgently needed supplies to the impoverished Caribbean nation, including Alyssa Milano, Olivia Wilde, LL Cool J, Jessica Alba, Demi Moore and Joel and Benji Madden. On Thursday, President Obama pledged $100 million in aid from the U.S. The United Nations also announced that $10 million would go to relief efforts in Haiti, while the World Bank pledged $100 million.
